We are humans and as such are given the faculty of critical thinking. As humans, we are even proud of this attribute since it is what separates us from the animals. But when you come to think about it, a lot of our daily decisions are derived at in a very irrational manner. Sometimes we know that our decisions are not exactly rational and are swayed by our sexual urges and other emotions. Other decisions are derived from our trust in authority, we follow them and assume they are correct. In some cases we give authority figures the benefit of a doubt, but in some cases we actually believe beyond a reasonable doubt that they are correct. Sometimes we are swayed by commercials and other media. In yet other cases, we are immersed in an environment which values tradition which assumes that certain ideas are true.
The intention of this blog is to get you back to your senses and use your critical thinking and make you more rational. We shall be showing some issues which you once thought were true and are now being questioned. In this day and age, a lot of ideas which have always been considered true are now being re-thought. For example. It is now being questioned that “breakfast is the best meal of the day” some have even stated that “breakfast is the worst meal of the day”. Some have stated that skipping meals is good for you. In sleeping some have also said that sleeping several times a day is more productive than sleeping two times a day. Have you heard, some gym goers say that aerobics makes you gain weight since it makes you eat more to compensate.
While you can see that these ideas are controversial, some are even more controversial in the sense that some irrational decisions you have made previously may curtail your very own happiness in life, since they decide on the very way you live life itself. Take for instance religion, what if you find out that your religion is one big myth. Or some of its teachings have been grossly misinterpreted. What if it is morally ethical to have premarital or recreational sex. What if it is ok to use contraception. What if what you have been guilty about all your life is ethical and even good. Think of all the wasted opportunity and happiness you have missed, not to mention feeling like a fool for having lost a significant part of your life due to useless and false ideas.
