Pat Robertson’s recent remarks (see video) on the Haiti earthquake have raised eyebrows and extreme reactions from many fronts, from the religious to the atheists.
Chicago Breaking News reports a Reverend Al Sharpton criticizing Robertson’s comments while calling for relief efforts for Haiti:
Sharpton, at Christ Universal Temple in the South Side on Sunday, said the statements were “repulsive” and “un-Christian.”
But Sharpton had no calls for apologies.
“I wouldn’t call on Pat Robertson to do anything. I think that the best way to deal with a glass that appears muddy is to put a clean glass next to it,” he said. “I hope the clean glass of those fair and humane-thinking religious leaders can be compared” to them.
Meanwhile on the Washington Post controversial atheist and author Richard Dawkins blasted not Robertson but religious sentiments such as those of Sharpton’s, arguing against the “hypocrisy” of Christians:
You nice, middle-of-the-road theologians and clergymen, be-frocked and bleating in your pulpits, you disclaim Pat Robertson’s suggestion that the Haitians are paying for a pact with the devil. But you worship a god-man who – as you tell your congregations even if you don’t believe it yourself – ‘cast out devils’. You even believe (or you don’t disabuse your flock when they believe) that Jesus cured a madman by causing the ‘devils’ in him to fly into a herd of pigs and stampede them over a cliff. Charming story, well calculated to uplift and inspire the Sunday School and the Infant Bible Class. Pat Robertson may spout evil nonsense, but he is a mere amateur at that game. Just read your own Bible. Pat Robertson is true to it. But you?
I find the extreme exchanges triggered by Robertson interesting not because of the clash of religious and non-religious sentiments (although that is also incidentally fun to read and watch). However what intrigues me is that the polarization of opinion is not between pro- and anti-Robertson, but on whether Robertson should qualify as representative of religious or non-religious sentiments.
Simply put: both the Christians and atheists seem to agree that Robertson was being an ass–but are divided on whether he (being an ass) represents Christians.
The “no true scotsman” fallacy comes to mind. Funny thing is, if Dawkins and Sharpton are to be our benchmarks, both sides of the Robertson issue are guilty of it, which is ironic.

We be having the same debate on me ship saying “No true pirate be liking Bacardi Rum.” yet when we plunder a Puerto Rican port, suddenly we all are drinking Bacardi.
what me means to be squawk’n is that both Sharpton, Robertson, and Dawkins are pointing to various aspects of a diverse belief system. there be not just one type of Christain.

Thank you for the greetings. Family’s ok, but still coping with the displacement. Am grateful for the few moments of “sanity” I have to do the blog, and for the online community I have in you guys.

As I said, Pat’s brain could’ve short-circuited as programmed by his highfalutin god that’s perhaps designed to convince himself too much that he is superior. Maybe the Haiti quake was too much info?
And, oh, just to humor you… if I’m on the other side thinking exactly the same way, then so be it. Let me shout out my thoughts about him from dreadful darknesses he dare not enter.
My dad said, (yelling very loudly)
“Do you realize I fought in World War II!
Do you know that I carried a gun,
I shot a gun, I killed with my gun!

Do you know who he is!
Do you know why I killed men in Germany!
I had to! They murdered millions of Jews!
And they would have killed us too!

He said to me that he does not regret one day of his life.
He said he would do it again if he had to.
He would fight for Democracy and fight for the Jews.
My father was born to be a soldier for Jesus Christ of Nazareth. This was his call from the Almighty. Two male prophets visited my dad in the midst of World War II. They spoke to my dad in specifics about his future. They told him that he would get pneumonia and he would recover. They told him that God did not want him to smoke, but that he would continue to smoke cigarettes. They told him he would marry and have 5 children and the youngest would be a girl and the girl who is me, Dayna Williams, would be raped and almost murdered by a satanist coven. The two prophets said, “Your daughter’s name Dayna Kristina will be visited by two angels and she will be protected from harm. My dad found out much later that I was raped on my front lawn when I was a child and later was informed about the coven members who did these crazy things to me then confronted Francis Ford Coppolla, a satanist. My dad never had any shame regarding his words about their gang banging soul losing – he said, “God damn you Satanists! I am not afraid you damn satanists!” “If I ever catch your asses in my house, I will either kill you or put you in prison. Whatever I feel like doing at the time!” He yelled at Francis Ford Coppola across the street one time, “I will laugh at you when God kicks you in hell for raping my daughter!” Francis and his coven at one time lived across the street in the house next to the Richards who were our Christian neighbors. Nick Cage and others beat me in the head terrorizing me as a child who were part of a major Hollywood satanist coven. They wanted to murder me initially but without success. Nick Cage wore a bandana around his neck to cover his acne. He was and still is a maniac with acne scars.
The two male prophets said to my dad of his one and only daughter, Dayna, “She will be a very gifted writer and poet. “She will write A movies and B movies. She will write music and not be in the same room as the musicians. They will hear her melodies in the spirit realm. She will orchestrate the instruments. She will be a conductor filled with the Holy Ghost. She will be unknown. Your daughter will pray for people and miracles will happen from God. Satanism will be very prevalent in the United States and your daughter will pray against these people. There will be a young girl, her name will be Brianna Dennison, who will be raped and murdered by one of the satanist covens. Their rituals completed in sworn secrecy in order to gain power, territory and money. They will cut her face off and cut her teeth out. They will leave her dead in a ditch and one man will be caught and put in prison. Your daughter will go to the location of where her dead corpse was found and pray in a circle with oil for God to come and protect America and the Saints from these people. Your daughter Dayna will never marry again after her first failed marriage. She will be joined to a man who is a prophet from God. But they will not be together in the flesh. She will live to be a grandmother. Her granddaughter will be born with her half of her abdomen not formed. There will be a hole in her side. There will be doctors who take her insides and place them in the proper order and will sew her up. This surgery will be a success.” They also told him “you will not live to see your granddaughter or great granddaughter, this will be much later.”
These two male prophets visited Patton and President Roosevelt. President Roosevelt was given a different message for his victory of World War II and given a prophesy about satanism in America and at the turn of the century the world would be quite different. There would be much wealth and Hollywood would have much of the wealth. There will be many talented singers and actresses in Hollywood. They will be wealthier than the wealthy of the current day. Many will be putting the money up their nose with drugs and other types of drugs wasting the money. The downfall of the
United States will be because of the greed of the wealthy and the satanism. The two prophets explained the master minds of the future and their contribution in the
destruction of the United States. They explained the derivatives to President Roosevelt about their aim and their end. The Federal Reserve would become severely corrupt. The two male prophets explained these corrupt men set out to model the strategic maneuvers of World War II coupled with voodoo known as satanism to attain the wealth for one world rulership with temporary success. The two male prophets said, “May it never be, for it is of the Anti-Christ.” “This is the birth of the watcher and the crier.” “This is your daughter Dayna and the prophet who is Blaine Cook. Your daughter Dayna will speak in tongues and will pray for God’s power to save others from hell. She will have the gift of healing. She is a prophet but she will be sick half of her life. She will be a sick prophet. She will recover. She will be babtized in to the faith of Jesus Christ who is the Messiah and only Lord.” “Jesus is Lord, they are one for a suffering. They will suffer much pain. Your daughter Dayna will be in pain and so will her husband Blaine. Remember this prophesy when it is time.”
My dad cried when he found out Patton died in December 1945. He loved President Roosevelt very much and believed in his Christian doctrine and his intelligence. He believed General George S. Patton was the greatest man he ever met. General Patton gave my father his gun during the while in Germany. My dad gave the gun to a museum in Rockport, Illinois when he got out of the service. He never kept it to make money off of it. He never cared for money. He did what would honor God first and then Patton. Jesus was his Lord. He took us to church every Sunday. He loved the Lord. He yelled one time, “I could have made a lot of money off the gun, but I don’t care about the money!” He was extremely angry Patton was murdered, even years later.
